Some say the word espresso is derived from the French word exprès, meaning “especially for” as it is made for one person and others think it is derived from the Italian verb meaning “to put under pressure” which is exactly how espresso is made, by forcing hot water under pressure through finely ground coffee.
There are a number of blends created especially for espresso, remembering however that the process of making espresso intensifies the flavour of the coffee beans.
Some people prefer entirely arabica whilst others would argue that you need robusta in the blend to produce a good flavoured espresso.
