Description
Ginger is native to India and China and its name comes from the Sanskrit word “stringa-vera”, which means “with a body like a horn”.
In England in the 19th Century barkeepers in pubs and taverns would put small containers of ground ginger out for men to mix with their beer, the origin of ginger beer!
Ginger is the underground stem of the ginger plant and is widely used in cooking and as a medicine, mainly as a digestive aid. It has a warm, sweet and pungent bouquet.
