Coffee PodsIf you havnt seen them a coffee pod resembles a tea bag but much more tightly packed and this fits snugly into the coffee handle of the pod coffee maker. A button is pressed and water is injected at around fifteen bar, that is around one hundred and fifty pounds of pressure. The water under pressure extracts the essential oils from the coffee to produce an espresso – a very short measure of coffee but quitre strong. To make a cappuccino, milk is steamed to make a compact foam and poured carefully over the coffee -if done well it sits on top of the espresso and the crema from the coffee will leave a brown ring in the milk – giving the coloring of the cappuccino monks – this is where the name comes from. The last alternative is the espresso coffee maker- here instead of coffee pods you use ground coffee which again is subjected to water under pressure to make an espresso. |
